The impact of substance use disorders on individuals, family members and friends is unimaginable and it does not discriminate. According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration from the 2019 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 20.4 million people aged 12 or older (or 7.4 percent of this population) from all races, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, gender identity, etc., had a Substance Use disorder in the past year.
Through adequate assessment, if deemed appropriate for outpatient-level treatment, we will tailor the treatment individually and appropriately for each client. A variety of therapeutic modalities including psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness training and psychoeducation will be utilized throughout treatment. Recovery is not a one-size-fits-all formula. There are many paths to freedom from the chains of addiction. At Panacea Counseling Services, we will help you find the path that best suits you and will walk with you along that path.
It is very common for SUDs to be coupled with a co-occurring mental health disorder, most commonly depression and anxiety. In fact, according to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, 9.2 million Americans, nearly half of those diagnosed with a SUD, were diagnosed with a co-occurring mental health disorder. It is crucial that all these co-occurring disorders are addressed as well.
Through the screening and assessment process, if deemed appropriate for outpatient-level treatment, these co-occurring disorders can be treated right alongside the substance use disorders. Through the use of psychotherapy, psycho-education, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and mindfulness training, we will assist you in starting to regain control of your self and your life.

Your pregnancy may not have been what you expected. Instead of this wonderful, joyous time, you feel fear and your days are filled with medical appointments, testing, and waiting for results. You may have had a great pregnancy but suffered birth trauma that have left you with physical complications and medical diagnosis. You may have found yourself feeling resentment or jealous of friends or family that had different pregnancies than you did.
Maybe you feel that your people do not get it, or that you are not comfortable talking to them about it. Perhaps you just had a baby and it’s nothing like you imagined. You do not recognize yourself, and are looking for help.
Maybe you are just struggling to balance it all.
Making the transition to parenthood is life altering, and can be overwhelming. Postpartum extends well beyond the first six to eight months following the birth of your child and perinatal starts before your first time you found out you were pregnant. Many parents struggle with mental health and find it beneficial to work through the feelings that are coming up. We are here to help guide you on your journey not only as a parent but, coming home to you.

Have you become concerned about your child’s substance use? Have they shown signs that they are using drugs and/or alcohol in a concerning way?
It has become more and more apparent that the pressures on today’s youth continue to increase. From social media to ever-changing technology to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on their social lives, today’s youth face more challenges than ever before. The human brain is still developing until age 26, and when you couple that with immense social pressure, rapidly fluctuating hormones and other stressors in an adolescent’s life, it’s no wonder they seek some form of relief. As a result, it has become increasingly common for adolescents to turn to drugs and/or alcohol in an attempt to cope or fit in. I have worked with a great deal of adolescents struggling with substance use disorders triggered by any combination of the previously mentioned pressures. If your child or children are exhibiting behaviors that indicate they are using drugs or alcohol in a concerning way, we are here to help.
Evaluation is the important first step in the therapeutic process. It is used to determine if the level of care we provide is the most beneficial to your child’s circumstances. Sometimes we determine that more intensive services are necessary, but even if we find that your child needs more intensive care than we can provide at the outpatient level, we will make sure that your child finds the help they need and will be here for them when they are ready.

The stigma surrounding therapy and mental health services has been breaking down more and more each day. There has been monumental progress towards acceptance and understanding of mental health issues, especially over the last decade, allowing people to feel less fearful about receiving services for their own mental health. Whether it is anxiety, depression, a mood disorder, pregnancy trauma, postpartum issues, birth trauma, or something else, we can help you at Panacea Counseling Services.
Perhaps you’ve just begun to realize a problem with your substance use beginning to surface. Maybe you’ve got years of experience using under your belt. Perhaps you are just beginning your journey towards freedom from drugs and/or alcohol, or maybe you’ve already got some time in recovery. You might think to yourself, “There are other people who seem way worse than me. Maybe I don’t need help.” Or maybe you have thought to yourself, “It’s a lost cause anyway, nothing is going to help me.” Wherever you are in your journey, there is help for you at Panacea Counseling Services.
Drugs and alcohol are only a part of a much bigger problem. Often, drugs and alcohol are used in an attempt to actually fix or block out the real problem. It is safe to say that it works for a time, but eventually the substances become less and less effective. Co-occurring disorders like depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, bipolar disorder, among others, often lead an individual to search for a solution to fix the way they are feeling in a more immediate way. Trauma is also a major contributing factor to substance use, causing the victim of the trauma to seek out a way to block out the pain and memory associated with the trauma. Needless to say, it is imperative that we address the cause of the substance use to best address the substance use itself.

Sometimes we determine that more intensive services are necessary, but even if we find that you need more intensive care than we can provide at the outpatient level, we will make sure you find the help you need and will be here for you when you are ready.
